Mayfest in the MountainsMay 25-27, 2024

The Town of Red River is extending a formal invitation to you, your family, and your friends for an upcoming event that marks a significant shift in our community calendar - Mayfest in the Mountains. This esteemed gathering will replace the Red River Memorial Day Motorcycle Rally, offering a refined array of family-friendly and Veteran-focused activities designed to foster community engagement and cultural celebration. Mayfest in the Mountains will encompass a weekend filled with family-friendly festivities, outdoor recreation, and artistic expression. Here's a brief overview of the scheduled activities: 1. Wall of Honor Display at the Red River Conference Center: Join us in honoring local figures who have made lasting contributions to our Country. The Red River Conference Center will feature a Wall of Honor as a tribute to their legacies. 2. Plein Air Competition and Exhibit: Experience the town as an open-air gallery with the Plein Air Competition throughout Red River. The resulting artworks will be showcased in an exhibit at the Red River Conference Center. Plein air, a French term, refers to painting outdoors, capturing the essence of the landscape in natural light. 3. Outdoor Recreation Workshops: Engage in various workshops, including fly-fishing, skateboarding, disc-golfing, climbing, mountain biking, kite flying, and more. 4. Family-Friendly Games and Activities: Enjoy laughter and bonding through various family-friendly games and activities held across different town locations. Additionally, experience the joy of interacting with adorable alpacas, adding a unique touch to the festivities. 5. NM Game & Fish Department Exhibit: Explore the wonders of nature with the New Mexico Game & Fish Department's exhibit, featuring the Trophy Trailer, and participate in pellet rifle training on May 25 and 26. 6. Live Music: Delight in the melodies of live music performances by local talents, contributing to the festive atmosphere. Note: Not all activities will take place every day, and they are weather-dependent. We are pleased to inform you that Mayfest in the Mountains will exclusively feature local businesses and artisans with no outside vendors. The event will take place at multiple venues throughout town, including the Red River Conference Center, Brandenburg Park, Mallette Park, Town Ponds, and more. In addition, discover the art of hot air ballooning in New Mexico, presented by the Anderson-Abruzzo International Hot Air Ballooning Foundation. Detailed schedules of events will be released later, offering a comprehensive overview of the exciting activities planned for this Memorial Day weekend. Join us for an unforgettable experience honoring veterans and celebrating the beauty of the mountains.
